SEATTLE – (July 6, 2016) – Virginia Mason today was named one of the “Most Wired” health systems in the nation for the fifth consecutive year by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine, the publication of the American Hospital Association.

The Most Wired Award, announced in the magazine’s July edition, recognizes organizations that are leaders in leveraging information technology to support clinical decisions, patient safety and the overall patient experience.

“This recognition is a testament to the pursuit of excellence that distinguishes teams across our entire organization supporting IT solutions that improve the overall patient experience,” said Bill Poppy, senior vice president and chief information officer at Virginia Mason.

Virginia Mason’s achievements in clinical information technology include a computerized physician order entry system, a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient electronic health record, comprehensive nursing documentation, a barcode system that ensures safe medication administration, and a secure online portal called MyVirginiaMason used by thousands of patients to view their lab results, renew prescriptions, securely message their providers and access to their personal medical information.

Virginia Mason has received the Most Wired Award annually since 2012.
