VM is the Official Medical Care Team for the Seattle Storm
SEATTLE - (July 1, 2009) - Virginia Mason Medical Center announced today it will partner with the Seattle Storm to serve as the official medical care team for the Storm's professional female basketball athletes. VM physicians will provide comprehensive medical care for the athletes throughout the season, including preventive and rehabilitative primary and sports medicine care.
Through the partnership, VM providers will work hand-in-hand with the Storm team training staff to provide care for the Storm players. David Kim, MD, will lead a team of VM physicians to provide medical coverage at all Storm home games and at road playoff games. Storm players who are injured during practice or games will receive treatment at VM facilities. In addition, VM providers performed complete internal and sports medicine physicals of Storm players before they reported to practice for the 2009 season.
"We selected Virginia Mason based on the quality of medical care provided throughout its clinics," said Karen Bryant, CEO of The Seattle Storm. "It's clear VM is committed to high-quality care for each and every patient, and we feel good about their approach to care delivery. Just as our players work together as a team on the court, Virginia Mason providers collaborate in the patient's best interest. As we begin our 10th Anniversary season in Seattle, we are pleased to be working with a health care organization that shares our long-term commitment to the community."
