SEATTLE – (June 13, 2014) – Craig Blackmore, MD, MPH, director of the Virginia Mason Center for Health Services Research, has been appointed to the state’s new Performance Measures Coordinating Committee by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee.

Dr. Blackmore is one of 29 individuals selected to serve on the panel. Its purpose is to recommend standard statewide measures of health performance that can be used to inform public and private health care purchasing, and improve the value and efficiency of services.

The committee was created by legislation calling for transformation of the state’s health care delivery system through strategies proposed in the State Health Care Innovation Plan for a Healthier Washington. The committee includes representatives of health research, medicine, behavioral health, insurance plans, public health, health care practices and specialties, consumer groups, minority populations, the business community and other areas.
