Clarification of Gov. Inslee Travel Advisory

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee issued a travel advisory Nov. 13, recommending a 14-day quarantine for interstate and international travel. In it, he asks residents to stay close to home and joined California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Oregon Gov. Kate Brown in urging visitors entering their states, or returning home from travel outside these states, to self-quarantine to slow the spread of the virus.

It is important to note this advisory is for non-essential travel only. Travel to and from Virginia Mason for care is considered essential, so this advisory does not apply to our patients.

Virginia Mason supports Gov. Inslee and the other governors in their efforts to help turn the tide on the current surge of COVID-19 cases in our region and throughout the country. But it is important we and our patients understand that Virginia Mason is an essential service provider, and we will see all patients who need to be seen.
