Dr. Kaplan specializes in general surgery, minimally invasive surgery (robotic surgery and laparoscopic procedures), hernia surgery, endocrine surgery (thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal), geriatric surgery, gallbladder surgery, appendicitis, colon cancer, bowel obstruction, vascular access, soft tissue infections and acute care surgery.
Dr. Kaplan's research interests include general surgery, aging research in surgery, surgical education, and the effect of social determinants of health on access to surgical care.
Dr. Kaplan participates in several outdoor activities, including backpacking, trail running and open water swimming. He works on his own car, mows his own lawn, and dabbles in home repair. Most of all, he enjoys quality time with his wife, friends and family.
