Sharp Increase in Flu Hospital Admissions
Seattle and King County are seeing a sharp increase in hospital admissions for influenza. To protect patients, visitors and staff, it’s important that all Virginia Mason visitors help prevent the spread of influenza in the medical center. The following are a few measures to take:
- Do not visit hospitalized patients if you are ill with cough, congestion, fever or other signs of the flu.
- Perform hand hygiene frequently while you are visiting by using alcohol-based hand sanitizers or properly washing your hands with soap and water.
- Always perform hand hygiene both when you enter and when you leave a patient’s room.
- Cover your cough or sneeze.
