Virginia Mason is one of the few institutions in the Northwest with a dedicated GI cancer conference or Tumor Board. The Gastrointestinal Cancer Team meets each week to develop treatment plans for every patient with colorectal cancer. The team reviews imaging studies, pathology and the clinical history of each patient to guide discussion of the next step in diagnosis and treatment. The availability of appropriate research studies or clinical trials, which offer the latest treatments, is also determined. This team approach assures that individualized recommendations are supported by our multi-disciplinary physicians' expertise.
