How to Reduce and Manage Stress

Eight out of 10 Americans say they frequently experience high levels of stress. What stresses us out the most? Money, work, relationships and social media are all at the top of the list.

But the good news is, there are things you can do to reduce and manage stress in your life.

  • Learn and practice relaxation techniques. Many people find meditation, yoga or tai-chi to be great ways to reduce stress.

  • Exercise regularly. Your body fights stress better when it’s fit. It doesn’t matter what activity you do—just get moving! Try 30 minutes a day, five days a week and you’ll notice a difference in your mood.

  • Focus on nutrition. Try to eat well-balanced meals that include leafy greens, complex carbohydrates, and foods that are high in vitamins and minerals. Stay away from sugar and processed foods.

  • Make sleep a priority. Your body needs rest to recover from stressful events.

We can’t eliminate stress entirely from our lives. But with the right plan and approach, we can manage and reduce it.
