Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation

The Section of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is a part of the Virginia Mason’s Neuroscience Institute, and is dedicated to assisting patients with physical, psychological, cognitive or communication problems. Virginia Mason offers both inpatient and outpatient PM&R services at the Hospital & Seattle Medical Center, and outpatient services at Virginia Mason medical centers in Bellevue, Federal Way and Issaquah.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services

Virginia Mason takes great pride in our coordinated team approach to rehabilitation. We offer individualized treatment options, as well as several integrated programs, with a full range of services.

Musculoskeletal Services

Virginia Mason physicians and physical and occupational therapists evaluate and treat patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, including neck and back pain, overuse disorders, joint injuries and headaches.

Neurological Rehabilitation

Virginia Mason is a nationally recognized provider of rehabilitation medicine, providing care for individuals with conditions such as brain injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease and stroke. Our physicians also offer psychometric testing to learn more about a person’s behavior or ability to function.

Workplace Services

We offer many programs and services to help your employees with health problems return to work safely, confidently and as quickly as possible.

  • Inpatient Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
    Virginia Mason physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech language pathologists evaluate and treat hospital patients in the acute care hospital unit.
     
  • Cancer Rehabilitation
    Specialized therapy is offered for cancer survivors including lymphedema management.
     
  • Natural Health Alternatives
    Virginia Mason offers many natural health services including therapeutic massage and naturopathy from licensed professionals.

Spasticity Management Clinic

A one-stop shop that provides comprehensive care and evaluation for patients with a variety of neurological disorders.


Dynamic Risk Assessment Tool (For Providers)

Virginia Mason’s Dynamic Risk Assessment Tool was developed by a multidisciplinary care team and is available for providers to use when caring for their patients to help identify potential risks and needs.
