Patient Safety Awareness Week will be celebrated around the country March 2 to 8, and Virginia Mason will once again recognize improvement efforts that contribute every day to your safety. During the week, the third-annual Mary L. McClinton Patient Safety Award will be presented to a team at Virginia Mason that has significantly improved processes in providing safe care. The award honors the life of Mrs. McClinton, who died in 2004 due to a process error at Virginia Mason.

Year after year, the organization has adopted a goal of ensuring your safety. VM has established standard processes that help make certain we are providing the safest care possible. During Patient Safety Week and throughout the year, talk to your provider about efforts he or she is taking to keep you safe. Get more information about your role in patient safety at npsf.org. Don't be afraid to speak up and be a part of this important initiative. For more information on patient safety, visit VirginiaMason.org/safety.
