More than 90 percent of our surgeons have completed advanced training in clinical fellowships, compared to a national average of 42 percent. As part of our commitment to excellence in patient care, our orthopedic surgeons see surgical candidates after a diagnosis has been made by one of our orthopedic providers, and treatment starts. Our team includes doctors and physician assistants (PA), specifically trained in the diagnosis and management of a wide variety of musculoskeletal problems, who work alongside our surgeons as an important part of our orthopedic care team. If it is determined that surgery is needed, your provider will schedule a surgical consultation with an orthopedic surgeon as soon as possible.

Rehabilitation and Prevention Services
Virginia Mason is a leader in providing comprehensive rehabilitation services for patients undergoing orthopedic surgery. In a recent survey of patients treated at Virginia Mason, 97 percent expressed the highest level of overall satisfaction with their rehabilitation program. Additionally, 98 percent of patients with orthopedic conditions returned to a home environment compared to a national average of 83 percent.

Research and Education
For more than 25 years, Virginia Mason's orthopedic surgeons have maintained an implant registry to monitor, for research purposes, the implants patients receive. Our surgeons also publish regularly in major medical journals.
