Virginia Mason Major Institution Master Plan
With considerable input from the First Hill community, Virginia Mason finalized a Major Institution Master Plan (MIMP) in 2013 for its downtown Seattle campus. The MIMP was unanimously adopted by the Seattle City Council during its meeting on Dec. 16, 2013.
A MIMP is a comprehensive plan, stipulated by the City of Seattle's Land Use Code, which serves to guide campus developments over many years, in this case approximately a 20- to 30-year period.
Virginia Mason engaged in a collaborative process with the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) and City departments to create three main components:
- MIMP and Design Guidelines
- Transportation Management Plan
- Environmental Impact Statement to address elements including height, open space, parking and traffic impacts, landscaping and density
- Landscape Master Plan
