Homicide Support Project Goals
The goal of the Homicide Support Project is to train multi-disciplinary teams across the U.S. to provide consistent, clear assistance to families in the aftermath of a homicide to:
- Lessen the long-term psychological impact for co-victims
- Help family and friends of homicide victims cope with their grief and devastation, and teach them skills for restoring control of their lives
- Counsel families to come together, support each other, and regain a sense of order
- Create a model for professionals from the criminal justice system, mental health community and representatives from public and private crime victims' agencies to share information, coordinate services, and find more efficient ways to assist this fragile population.
