The Heart Institute at Virginia Mason, based in Seattle, Washington, is known across the Pacific Northwest for excellent heart care and clinical outcomes. Our heart doctors and heart surgeons are pioneers in the introduction of innovative surgical techniques, anticoagulation management, cardiovascular risk reduction, diagnostic and interventional cardiology, among other services. The Heart Institute maintains a strong partnership with The Hope Heart Program, an internationally known research program that provides patients with advanced treatment opportunities.

  • Anticoagulation Clinic
    The Anticoagulation Clinic is a service provided to all patients at Virginia Mason taking oral anticoagulants (warfarin).
     
  • Cardiac Labs (Diagnostic Testing)
    The cardiac labs include the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, the Cardiovascular Lab, the Echocardiography Lab and the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, all providing state-of-the-art diagnostic and interventional services.
     
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation
    The cardiac rehabilitation program at Virginia Mason helps patients recover faster and return to full and productive lives after a heart attack, heart surgery, coronary angioplasty, angina or a related health problem.
     
  • Cardiology
    Virginia Mason's heart doctors provide comprehensive heart care by diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders of the heart and vascular system.
     
  • Cardiac (Heart) Surgery
    The cardiac and thoracic surgery team seeks to alleviate symptoms and prolong life through various surgical services.
      
  • Cardiac Wellness Clinic
    The goal of this clinic is to help individuals understand cardiovascular disease, and engage them in risk factor modification and healthy lifestyle management through education, guidance, goal setting and positive reinforcement.
  • Electrophysiology Services
    The electrophysiology team treats individuals with heart palpitations, fainting spells and established heart rhythm disturbances. In addition, sophisticated device therapies including pacemakers, defibrillators and rhythm catheter ablation are provided and monitored.
     
  • EvergreenHealth Cardiology Partnership
    Virginia Mason and EvergreenHealth have developed an integrated Eastside cardiology practice, combining the offerings of both clinical programs and physician groups to ensure outstanding care, added convenience and an exceptional patient experience.
     
  • Heart Failure Clinic
    The Heart Failure Clinic provides complete diagnostic testing, treatment, and regular follow-up appointments for the treatment of heart failure to improve quality of life and length of life for patients afflicted with heart failure.
     
  • Vascular Center at Virginia Mason
    The Vascular Center is a team of providers that focus on the medical, endovascular and surgical treatment of patients with vascular disease.
     
  • Women and Heart Disease
    The Heart Institute's Sara Weiss, MD, Susie Woo, MD, Elizabeth Chan, MD, FACC, and Elizabeth Gold, MD, have a particular interest in evaluating and counseling women who have heart disease or desire a risk evaluation for heart disease.

    Cardiac Research - Benaroya Research Institute (BRI)

    Heart Institute patients benefit from a partnership with the Hope Heart Program at Virginia Mason's Benaroya Research Institute (BRI), dedicated to discovering new treatments and approaches to cardiovascular disease. For example, BRI investigators are currently studying how to successfully regrow heart muscle after a heart attack to improve heart function and make a difference in preventing heart failure. Virginia Mason patients benefit from the groundbreaking research taking place every day at BRI.
