While there have not been any cases of Ebola reported in the Pacific Northwest, we still must be vigilant and prepared. At Virginia Mason, we are working closely with the Department of Health, CDC and other hospitals in the Northwest Healthcare Response Network to take appropriate measures to protect our patients and team members from the Ebola virus. These preventive measures include asking screening questions. When you arrive at our hospital or regional medical centers, you may be asked about your recent travel and any flu-like symptoms as part of our effort to quickly identify patients who should be isolated and tested for Ebola. We are taking this extra step to protect everyone who visits Virginia Mason.
