No Weekend Activity

  • Button: Receive the weekly construction bulletin via e-mail.No hospital addition construction work is planned for Saturday, Nov. 14, or Sunday, Nov. 15.

Monday through Friday

  • We have poured the final slab for the roof, effectively topping out the addition. Work to finish the parapet walls and the mechanical housing areas at the top level continues. If we are able to stay on schedule, we plan to remove the tower crane by the end of January.

  • Elevator installation work continues.

  • The installation of sewer and water connections to the addition from Seneca Street continues. Throughout this work, we are maintaining traffic flow on Seneca in each direction and providing added traffic control as needed.

  • We are continuing to install window frames and glass along Boren Avenue prior to applying the final façade layer.

  • With the topping out of the building, concrete pours and steel deliveries have become more infrequent, but they will occasionally occur, limiting Seneca and Boren to one lane in each direction during concrete pours. Steel and material deliveries continue on Seneca and Spring streets.

  • Residents may hear an air horn on occasion. This is a safety alert to inform workers that a heavy load is about to be lifted across the construction site.

Temporary Closure of Patient Drop-Off Area on Seneca

  • For the safety of pedestrians and construction workers, the drop-off area will remain closed to vehicular traffic until May 2010, when work on the connector between the existing hospital and the addition is scheduled to be complete.

  • The alternate drop-off and pick-up locations in front of the Emergency Department, Lindeman Pavilion and Buck Pavilion remain in effect until that time.

  • Staff and patients can use both crosswalks and the sidewalk to get in and out of the hospital easily through the protected breezeway.

Sidewalk and Street Closures

  • Spring Street - Spring Street between Boren Avenue and Terry Avenue is closed to through traffic 24 hours a day. The north sidewalk between Boren and Terry is closed 24 hours a day. The south sidewalk, however, is open to pedestrians at all times.

  • Boren Avenue - The westward southbound lane on Boren between Seneca and Spring will be closed during normal construction hours and open after construction hours. The sidewalk will be closed 24 hours a day.

  • Seneca Street - Parking on the north and south side of Seneca continues to be unavailable temporarily (6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, north side; 24 hours/seven days a week, south side). For the time being, the south sidewalk on Seneca between Boren and Terry will be closed. The north sidewalk will be open.

  • Parking Spaces - The four parking stalls west of Boren on only the south side of Seneca will continue to be closed to parking.
