No Weekend Work

  • Button: Receive the weekly hospital addition construction bulletin via e-mail.There will be no construction work Saturday, May 29, Sunday, May 30, or Monday, May 31.

Weekday Work: June 1-4

  • Progress continues pouring and installing the new sidewalks around the hospital addition.
     
  • We will continue roofing (weather permitting), and installation of brick and fiber cement panels at the connector.
     
  • We will continue to install the rain canopy over the Boren Avenue sidewalk.
     
  • Work inside the southeast corner of the building continues, as we put in floor finishes for the Emergency Department driveway.
     
  • Seattle Steam will continue to work in the north parking lane of Seneca Street and in the addition to run steam lines, which will serve heating and sterilization purposes. During normal construction hours, two-way traffic along Seneca will be maintained.
     
  • Additionally, Seattle Steam will work some evening shifts to conduct work that requires the removal of electric trolley lines. For more information, please contact Seattle Steam, (206) 623-6366.
     
  • Very few concrete pours remain. When they occur, Seneca and Boren will be limited to one lane in each direction for the duration of the pour.
     
  • Residents may hear an air horn on occasion to alert workers that a heavy load is about to be lifted across the construction site.

Temporary Closure of Patient Drop-Off Area on Seneca

  • For the safety of pedestrians and construction workers, the drop-off area will remain closed to vehicular traffic through July, when work on the connector between the existing hospital and the addition is scheduled to be complete.
     
  • The alternate drop-off and pick-up locations in front of the Emergency Department, Lindeman Pavilion and Buck Pavilion remain in effect until that time.
     
  • Staff and patients can use the west crosswalk to access the hospital through the protected breezeway.

Sidewalk and Street Closures

  • Spring Street - Spring between Boren and Terry Avenue is closed to through traffic 24 hours a day. The north sidewalk between Boren and Terry is closed 24 hours a day. The south sidewalk, however, is open to pedestrians at all times.
     
  • Boren Avenue - When required for deliveries, the westward southbound lane on Boren between Seneca and Spring will be closed during normal construction hours and open after construction hours. The sidewalk will be closed 24 hours a day.
     
  • Seneca Street - Parking on the north and south side of Seneca continues to be unavailable temporarily (6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, north side; 24 hours/seven days a week, south side). For the time being, the south sidewalk on Seneca between Boren and Terry will be closed. The north sidewalk will be open.
     
  • Parking Spaces - The four parking stalls west of Boren on only the south side of Seneca will continue to be closed to parking.
