Non-Construction Site Weekend Activity

  • Button: Receive the weekly hospital addition construction bulletin via e-mail.While there will be no work on the hospital addition this weekend, we will be replacing a piece of glass in our existing skybridge on Seneca Street Saturday, March 13.

  • Seneca will remain open to traffic, but we will have a police officer in the street to assist with any necessary rerouting of traffic until this work is completed.

Weekday Work: March 15-19

  • On the roof, we have nearly completed the siding and are finishing siding on the south side of the cooling units.

  • We continue to apply the final façade layer on the south and east sides of the building, putting in window frames and facade preparations.

  • Very few concrete pours remain. When they occur, Seneca and Boren Avenue will be limited to one lane in each direction for the duration of the pour.

  • Residents may hear an air horn on occasion to alert workers that a heavy load is about to be lifted across the construction site.

  • View our webcam at VirginiaMason.org/construction.

Temporary Closure of Patient Drop-Off Area on Seneca

  • For the safety of pedestrians and construction workers, the drop-off area will remain closed to vehicular traffic until May, when work on the connector between the existing hospital and the addition is scheduled to be complete.

  • The alternate drop-off and pick-up locations in front of the Emergency Department, Lindeman Pavilion and Buck Pavilion remain in effect until that time.

  • Staff and patients can use the west crosswalk to access the hospital through the protected breezeway.

Sidewalk and Street Closures

  • Spring Street - Spring between Boren and Terry Avenue is closed to through traffic 24 hours a day. The north sidewalk between Boren and Terry is closed 24 hours a day. The south sidewalk, however, is open to pedestrians at all times.

  • Boren Avenue - When required for deliveries, the westward southbound lane on Boren between Seneca and Spring will be closed during normal construction hours and open after construction hours. The sidewalk will be closed 24 hours a day.

  • Seneca Street - Parking on the north and south side of Seneca continues to be unavailable temporarily (6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, north side; 24 hours/seven days a week, south side). For the time being, the south sidewalk on Seneca between Boren and Terry will be closed. The north sidewalk will be open.

  • Parking Spaces - The four parking stalls west of Boren on only the south side of Seneca will continue to be closed to parking.
