Grand Opening Oct. 22 at New Emergency Department, Located at Spring and Boren

On Saturday, Oct. 22, Virginia Mason Medical Center will celebrate the grand opening of the Floyd & Delores Jones Pavilion with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony at the entry to the new Emergency Department. You and all our neighbors are invited to come by and participate in the festivities, including a look inside the new Emergency Department.

Tent assembly will begin at approximately 6 a.m. that day, and the ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. near the entrance to the Emergency Department on Spring Street. We anticipate the tent assembly and ribbon-cutting event to be the noisiest and busiest times of the day.

To accommodate the event, there will be a few changes to the flow of traffic that we wanted to make sure you are aware of:

  • Spring Street will be closed from Boren Avenue to Terry Avenue from 5 a.m. until 6 p.m. (Approximately 15 parking spaces will be inaccessible during this time.)

  • The alley between the Chasselton Apartments and the Baroness Hotel will be partially closed with access only to the Baroness parking lot.

The entrance to the new Emergency Department is located near the corner of Boren and Spring. A key concept throughout the Emergency Department and Jones Pavilion is the conscious decision to separate major flows of services. There are two separate arrival areas — one designed for patients arriving by ambulance and another for patients arriving by car or on foot.

On behalf of the entire Virginia Mason team, thank you for your patience throughout the building of Jones Pavilion. We apologize for the inconveniences we may have caused along the way, and will continue to keep you informed of new developments and timelines.
