SEATTLE, Wash. — (July 12, 2006) — On Sunday, July 16, on the shores of Lake Washington, the Benaroya Research Institute (BRI) Triathlon at SEAFAIR will host Seattle's largest co-ed sprint distance triathlon. Events are planned throughout the day for competitive athletes and enthusiastic weekend-warriors, not to mention kids.

SEAFAIR Kids Triathlon
This triathlon is noted to be the first of its kind offered to kids in the region. The event in Seward Park, starting at 10:30 a.m. includes a 50-100 yard swim (depending on age), 1-mile bike, and 1/4-mile run. All kids ages 6 to 12 are welcome! More than 300 kids are already signed up and ready to go this year!
  • Splashers: This category is geared toward the kids that just want to get their feet wet and find out what it feels like to be in a triathlon. This group will complete a 50 yd. swim, 1 mile bike and .2 mile run.

  • Dashers: This category is geared toward the kids that want to take on the challenge of a little longer distance and test their endurance. This group will complete a 100 yd. swim, 2 mile bike and .4 mile run.
The Cause
The entire event will support BRI’s life-saving research. Proceeds from all pledges collected will directly support juvenile diabetes research. For more information, see, or call (206) 341-0315.
