Support and Survivorship

Virginia Mason is unusual because part of out team is a board-certified palliative care physician. This means that cancer directed therapies are always accompanied by expert symptom management and concern for the psychological and spiritual well-being of our patients and their families.

Basic Research is the Key to a Cure

Research in the lab — where teams are understanding cancer at its most basic, molecular level — is our best hope for finding a cure, or someday eliminating cancer altogether. Every day, new clues are being discovered that help us better understand how to diagnose, treat and prevent cancer.

Virginia Mason in Seattle is fortunate to be connected to a world class research center. At Benaroya Research Institute, scientists are contributing to the world's knowledge of cancer, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis that will one day be "translated" to the clinic and patient.
