Part of Spring Street Sidewalk to Close for MRI Install
To provide higher quality diagnostic images for our patients, Virginia Mason’s Radiology Department is installing a new 3T (tesla) MRI machine on Level 5 of Central Pavilion, beginning Monday, Feb. 1.
This work will result in the closure of a portion of Spring Street’s north sidewalk (see graphic) as scaffolding will be installed and an opening created in the hospital building. It is anticipated this section of sidewalk will be reopened by May 9.
The scaffolding installation will create noise, including banging of metal and hammering, from Feb. 1 through Feb. 3. Beginning Feb. 4, concrete demolition will occur, resulting in noise from saw activity and debris removal. The demolition should be completed by March 8. Forklift and commercial trucks will be used during the project’s duration. In early May, a temporary crane will be set up on Spring Street to hoist equipment.
Work is scheduled to occur between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and pedestrians will need to use the south sidewalk on Spring Street during the project.
