Pancreatitis simply means inflammation of the pancreas. There are four types of pancreatitis: acute, severe acute, chronic and acute on chronic. Causes of acute and chronic pancreatitis are similar, with around 80 percent to 90 percent caused by either alcohol abuse or gallstones. Both types can be very severe, have serious complications and can dramatically impact quality of life.

Pancreatitis patients require a team approach to manage their illness that includes their primary providers as an integral part of the team. It is our goal to limit permanent damage to the pancreas, improve quality of life and reduce hospital readmissions, morbidity and mortality.
