Individuals with type 1 diabetes must take insulin injections daily to replace the insulin that is no longer being made naturally in the body.

For people with type 2 diabetes, an exercise program and a meal plan may not be enough to bring blood glucose levels into a normal range. When this occurs, your doctor may recommend that you take oral medications or insulin to effectively manage your disease.

It is important to note that medication alone cannot control diabetes. Exercise and good eating habits must be continued to help keep blood glucose levels as close to normal as possible.
