A Panniculectomy is the removal of excess fat and skin that hangs down from the lower abdomen, which is called an 'apron' or 'pannus.' This often occurs in patients who are or have been severely overweight or who have recently lost a massive amount of weight.

This procedure differs from an Abdominoplasty in that it only deals with fat and skin, not the muscle in the area.
