SEATTLE – (Oct. 24, 2017) – The author of a new biography about chef and writer Paula Wolfert, who has explored the relationship between food, well-being and memory, will speak Friday at Virginia Mason in Seattle and Saturday at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art.

Emily Kaiser Thelin, author of “Unforgettable: The Bold Flavors of Paula Wolfert’s Renegade Life,” will speak and sign copies of her book at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Volney Richmond Auditorium in Virginia Mason’s Lindeman Pavilion, 1201 Terry Ave., Seattle. Also, she will speak at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, 550 Winslow Way E., Bainbridge Island. Admission is free. Complimentary Mediterranean hors d’oeuvres will be provided at each event.

Thelin’s book chronicles the life of perhaps one the most influential food explorers and cookbook writers of her time. Wolfert, an advocate of what she calls a “brain-healthy diet,” connects the dots between food and memory. She is now battling her own diagnosis of dementia.

“Dementia has made it harder to read the words on the page, and to remember this afternoon what I did this morning, and even the names of old friends, but I can’t let it stop me from living,” Wolfert said in a recent interview.

Thelin’s presentations in Seattle and Bainbridge Island are sponsored by the Virginia Mason Center for Healthy Aging, part of the medical center’s Neuroscience Institute.
