SEATTLE – (Dec. 28, 2016)Andrew Ross, MD, has been appointed to the new position of medical director for strategic growth at Virginia Mason.

In this executive role, he will work closely with Kerry Shannon, senior vice president, Strategy and Business Development, and others on the senior leadership team to support the organization’s focus on growth and business development.

Dr. Ross, who joined the Virginia Mason medical staff in 2007, will also continue to serve as section head, Gastroenterology, and director of the Virginia Mason Digestive Disease Institute Therapeutic Endoscopy Center of Excellence. A nationally recognized expert on therapeutic endoscopy and clinical procedure safety, Dr. Ross received a Certificate in Medical Management from the University of Washington.

As part of its emphasis on growth, Virginia Mason is developing a strategic affiliation and clinical partnership with Tacoma-based CHI Franciscan Health System. Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital became part of the Virginia Mason Health System in January 2016. Virginia Mason also expanded access to outpatient services this year by opening an urgent-care clinic in Seattle’s University Village shopping center.
