SEATTLE – (July 18, 2016) – Maritime companies, golfers and guests teed off for the 17th annual Towboat Invitational July 11 to benefit Virginia Mason and the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon. The tournament was held at The Golf Club at Newcastle in Newcastle, Wash. and raised more than $340,000 for the nonprofit organizations. All net proceeds directly benefit programs at Boys & Girls Club and Virginia Mason.

Hosted by marine transportation companies Foss Maritime, Harley Marine Services and Sause Bros., along with many other corporate sponsors, the Towboat Invitational has raised more than $3.5 million since its inaugural event in 2000.
Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon is dedicated to assisting youths of all backgrounds and financial circumstances to achieve their potential by enhancing their self-esteem, providing positive role models, and helping them develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. About 250 youngsters go to the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon every day after school. The program, based in Coos Bay, serves more than 3,000 members every year.
