SEATTLE – (April 7, 2016) – Virginia Mason has received the Institutional Leadership in Quality Award from the American College of Medical Quality (ACMQ).
The annual award, presented April 1 during a ceremony in Washington, D.C., is given to organizations in recognition of outstanding contributions to medical quality management or clinical quality improvement in the areas of scholarship, ideas or promotion of the specialty.

Virginia Mason is the 15th recipient of the award since it was established in 1999. Past honorees include the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Kaiser Health Plans/Kaiser Permanente and the Center for the Evaluative Clinical Sciences at Dartmouth Medical School.
Cathie Furman, RN, MHA, executive faculty member, Virginia Mason Institute, accepted the award on behalf of the Virginia Mason organization and gave a presentation about how it uses world-class management to align strategies and goals.
