Fellowship Opportunities in Pancreas Cancer Research

The Digestive Disease Institute at Virginia Mason offers a one-year fellowship opportunity for concentrated experience in pancreas cancer research, focusing on academic output/publication.

The fellow will have dedicated time to help construct, maintain, and use robust databases for study of pancreatic cancer, including quality of life and cost data, to apply outcomes data to provide a foundation for improving quality of patient care, and to focus on retrospective and prospective chart review studies, complementing ongoing clinical research. Applicants must have an MD degree, must have completed at least three years of residency and seek post-graduate training to: a) actively engage in research on pancreatic cancer; b) present at national meetings; and c) significantly increase skills needed to conduct clinically relevant research are eligible to apply. Minimum requirements also include Board Eligibility. The ideal candidate will be an energetic self-starter who enjoys working with mentoring supervision and has a concentrated focus on productivity resulting in specific outcomes data, research publications in peer-reviewed journals and research presentations at national or international professional meetings.

Supervision and mentoring will be provided by Vincent J. Picozzi, MD, Fellowship Director, and other faculty members who are part of the Digestive Disease Institute care team and are experts in the treatment and research of digestive disease, including  Richard Kozarek, MD, Scott Helton, MD, FACS, Bruce Lin, MD, and Russell Dorer, MD, PhD.
