Radiologist staff is comprised of three physicians with specialty training in nuclear medicine. Faculty is actively involved to ensure the best patient care through participation in pulmonary, cardiac cath, breast and endocrine conferences.

Housed at our Hospital & Seattle Medical Center is a PET/CT scanner, two dual head SPECT gamma cameras, one dual head SPECT gamma camera, one single head SPECT gamma cameras, a thyroid probe/well counter, and a Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) bone density system. Our department performs all general Nuclear Medicine studies with emphasis on cardiology, endocrinology, oncology and therapeutic services. Report turnaround time for Nuclear Medicine is generally 45 minutes following completion of the scan. All abnormal results are immediately called to the physician's office.

At our Federal Way Medical Center, a dual head SPECT gamma camera and a thyroid probe/well counter provide outpatient imaging. The radiologist on site reads all scans. Additional coverage is available from Seattle because the camera systems are connected via a T-1 line. Report turnaround time is also approximately 45 minutes following completion of the scan. Again, abnormal results are immediately called to the physician's office.

Nuclear Medicine provides DEXA service at Federal Way Medical Center, Lynnwood Medical Center, Issaquah Medical Center, Kirkland Medical Center, Bellevue Medical Center and Bainbridge Island Medical Center with a mobile unit. This unit is identical to the fixed system at the Hospital & Seattle Medical Center and provides equally accurate bone mineral measurements. Data is acquired, transmitted to the radiologist at the Hospital & Seattle Medical Center and reported the same day. Report turnaround time for DEXA results is approximately four hours.
