The Benaroya Diabetes Center at Virginia Mason offers comprehensive diabetes management programs for patients and their families. Our diabetes center is located within a larger medical center providing you with concentrated medical care for diabetes as well as access to specialists in other fields throughout all of Virginia Mason. Diabetes Center patients are seen at the Hospital & Seattle Medical Center.

We have been serving patients with diabetes since the early 1920s, when insulin was first discovered. Our Benaroya Diabetes Center is at the forefront of diagnosing, managing and treating diabetes, and providing comprehensive patient education.

The diabetes center was recently recognized by the American Diabetes Association in accordance with national standards for diabetes patient education programs. The diabetes center was first recognized in 1990, and has been recertified every three years.

Virginia Mason offers highly-trained specialists in all areas of endocrinology, the specialty that treats diseases and disorders of the endocrine system, including diabetes.

In collaboration with Benaroya Research Institute (BRI), Virginia Mason is committed to providing exceptional and groundbreaking health care via clinical research. As an internationally-recognized leader in research for more than 60 years, BRI continuously offers clinical trials for patients and families affected by Type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune diseases. The BRI Diabetes Clinical Research Program at Virginia Mason studies to understand, prevent, diagnose, optimize successful treatment, and test innovative new therapies for diabetes management.
