Patient using virtual care clinic

Questions you may have about Virginia Mason Virtual Care Clinic:

What do you treat?
How do I pay?
Will my insurance reimburse me?
Can I get a prescription for any kind of medication?
What about my regular doctor?
Will I still have to go see a doctor in a doctor’s office?
But what about the personal touch of an in-person exam?

What do you treat?
We treat many common conditions, such as colds and flu, urinary tract infections (UTIs), rashes, sore throat, congestion, constipation, cold sores, fever, headaches, stomach viruses, vomiting, bites and stings and more.

We can also help assess if you need to be seen in-person by your primary care doctor or at an urgent care facility.

How do I pay?
You pay online with a credit card. The fee is $59 for a virtual clinic visit.

Will my insurance reimburse me?
Many insurance plans will reimburse you for a virtual visit, however it’s best to check first.

If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) your visit may be an eligible medical expense and qualify for reimbursement.

Are prescriptions available?
Yes — prescriptions are available and will be sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice. Note that we do not prescribe controlled substances, such as narcotics or medications commonly prescribed for depression or anxiety. You must see a doctor in person to be prescribed medications such as Percocet, Vicodin, Oxycodone and Morphine.

What about my regular doctor?
Your visit information is private and securely stored in your account. You can log in at any time to download and share visit summaries with your doctor if you wish. You can also enter a fax number when requesting a visit to send a copy of your visit information directly to your doctor's office.

If you do not have a primary care physician, we will be happy to recommend one for you. Find a doctor now.

Will I still have to go see a doctor in a doctor’s office?
Not usually. Our providers can treat a very wide range of conditions during a virtual visit. However, if that cut does need stitches, or your illness or injury is quite serious, you will be directed to your doctor’s office, an urgent care facility, or the emergency room.

But what about the personal touch of an in-person exam?
The personal touch is great, and we’re not here to take the place of your primary care doctor.

We’re here to fill in the gaps – when you feel too sick to drive, or you can’t get an appointment right away, or it’s 1 o’clock in the morning. We are here for you seven days a week, 24 hours a day. No appointment necessary.

For any life-threatening accidents or injuries, call 911 or visit the closest Emergency Department.
