SEATTLE – (April 4, 2018) – Virginia Mason is hosting special forums this month to encourage a public discussion about Down syndrome and the availability of health and community services for adults with the genetic disorder.

The events will be held at:

  • Saturday, April 7, 10 a.m., Virginia Mason Federal Way Medical Center, 33501 First Way S.
  • Thursday, April 19, 6 p.m., Virginia Mason University Village Medical Center, 2671 NE 46th St., Seattle
  • Monday, April 30, 5 p.m., Virginia Mason Lynnwood Medical Center, 19116 33rd Ave. W., Lynnwood

The free events are open to everyone, including adults with Down syndrome; relatives of individuals with the condition; and people who support development of a Down syndrome clinical program for adults in the region. An estimated 200,000 people are diagnosed with Down syndrome annually in the United States.

Virginia Mason has Washington state's only pediatric Down syndrome program at its Issaquah medical center, 100 NE Gilman Blvd.
