At Virginia Mason, our team approach to treating thyroid cancer allows us to provide the best care for patients in Seattle and the Northwest. Our Thyroid Cancer Tumor Board meets on a regular basis and integrates the experience of the many groups of physicians involved in the care of patients with thyroid cancer including endocrinologists, surgeons, nuclear medicine physicians, radiation oncologists, and pathologists.
Our institution performs more than 150 fine needle aspirations of the thyroid per year, close to 50 thyroidectomies per year for the treatment of thyroid carcinoma, and administers inpatient doses of radioactive iodine over 40 times per year. These numbers are comparable to or exceed the experience of many large academic centers in the United States, including the Mayo Clinic and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute.
If you would like more information, to speak with a care team member or to make an appointment, please call the Floyd & Delores Jones Cancer Institute at (206) 223-2374. Outside of the Seattle area, call (800) 553-7803 and ask for the Floyd & Delores Jones Cancer Institute.
We bring together the resources of the entire medical center to provide patients with the most progressive care available.
After Thyroid Cancer Treatment
Follow-up visits and exams are a regular part of our comprehensive care. We support our thyroid cancer patients beyond their treatment community events, support groups and more.
