Your oncologist is trained in the use of chemotherapy and other drug therapies for fighting cancer. Although surgery is a key treatment for pancreatic cancer, when appropriate, you also may have treatment with cancer-fighting drugs, which your medical oncologist will discuss with you. The Cancer Institute collaborates with Benaroya Research Institute and the Digestive Disease Institute to offer pancreas cancer clinical research trials in conjunction with providers within the Pancreatic Center of Excellence.
