Gastroenterologists — Our gastroenterologists use minimally invasive techniques to evaluate pancreatic cancer, deliver treatments and relieve painful symptoms. We are experts in endoscopy, a non-surgical approach that uses tiny instruments to take images of your cancer, remove tissue samples and carry treatment to tumors. We also use endoscopy to relieve pain by blocking nerves connected to the pancreas.
|S. Ian Gan, MD||Shayan Irani, MD||Richard A Kozarek, MD||Michael Larsen, MD||Andrew Ross, MD|
Surgeons — Virginia Mason’s surgeons have performed hundreds of surgeries on patients with pancreatic cancer and have developed new ways to apply surgery to the disease. We can operate on complex cases that other hospitals might consider inoperable.
|Adnan Alseidi MD, EdM, FACS||Thomas R. Biehl MD, FACS||Scott Helton MD, FACS||Flavio G. Rocha, MD|
Radiation oncologists — Our radiation oncologists have seen hundreds of patients with pancreatic cancer. This experience helps us determine which radiation technique will be most effective for you, and often helps us shrink tumors so patients can become eligible for surgery.
|K. Ray Badiozamani, MD||Huong T. Pham, MD||Guobin Song, MD, PhD||Michelle Yao, MD|
Radiologists — Virginia Mason’s radiologists use the latest technologies to diagnose, evaluate and monitor pancreatic cancer, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET). Our radiologists’ experience helps them know what to look for and explain what they see. This gives our team the information they need to plan your treatment, and to adapt as your body responds.
|David Coy, MD, PhD||Paul L. Sicuro, MD|
Pathologists — Our pathologists are highly specialized, having completed fellowships in pancreatic cancer at Harvard University. They use the latest diagnostic tests, including molecular tests that pinpoint the gene mutations that drive your cancer.
|Nicholas Agoff, MD||Russell Dorer, MD, PhD||Hejin Hahn, MD, PhD|
Social workers — All of our patients have access to social workers who help you navigate the emotional, logistical and financial issues that accompany cancer treatment.
|Mark Beiter, DO, FACP||Kelly Christensen||Stacy Marini|
Nutritionist — Virginia Mason is one of just four institutions that have a nutritionist who specializes in pancreatic cancer. This means we can design a diet that helps you stay as strong as possible during treatment.
