All residents appointed for one year will receive three weeks of vacation per year.
Comprehensive medical insurance is provided to housestaff members and their dependents with the premium paid by the medical center. The resident has the option of several dental insurance plans. A life insurance policy with a face value of $50,000 and long-term disability insurance will be provided to the resident staff, with the premium paid by medical center.
Coverage provides legal defense and protection against awards from claims reported or filed after the completion of graduate medical education. If the alleged acts or omissions of the residents are within the scope of the education program, the purchase of a tail policy is not necessary.
Meal cards are provided to each resident for purchase with amount of $210 per month while on service.
White coats will be provided for all members of the resident staff.
Residents are eligible for financial assistance to attend medical meetings. To be eligible to receive financial assistance, the following criteria apply:
- Residency appointment must be for a minimum of one-year duration.
- Residents presenting a paper at a meeting within the continental United States will be reimbursed for travel expenses, consistent with that allowed by the medical center, for at least one presentation per topic per year.
- Residents will be eligible to attend medical meetings without presenting a paper and be reimbursed at a rate of $500 per year of residency starting in the R2 year.
- Prior approval for all assistance must be obtained by consent of both the Program Director and the Director of Medical Education.
The medical center pays the initial licensure fee in the state of Washington. Two years of postgraduate training are required for permanent licensure in the state of Washington.
Parking for all members of the housestaff is provided by the medical center.
Photocopying of material for educational purposes of the housestaff will be provided by the medical center.
