Virginia Mason was first in the Pacific Northwest to offer patients cryoballoon ablation, a safe and effective treatment for atrial fibrillation.
Virginia Mason’s Electrophysiology Department, in Seattle, Wash., is a regional referral center for the Pacific Northwest, committed to outstanding care for individuals with heart rhythm disorders, also known as arrhythmias.
The electrophysiology team is led by board-certified electrophysiologists who specialize in the diagnosis and care of patients with atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, and other abnormal heart rhythms. The team uses state-of-the-art electrophysiology labs to provide care and treatment for the following conditions.
The team implants more than 450 cardiac devices, such as pacemakers, implanted cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and implanted loop recorders annually, as well as performs more than 1,800 electrophysiology tests and ablations, including cryoballoon ablation procedures for atrial fibrillation. Patient outcomes meet or exceed national standards, complication rates are lower than national standards, and the team consistently maintains patient satisfaction scores higher than 93 percent, placing a special focus on patient safety.
Through our partnership with EvergreenHealth, Virginia Mason patients who live on the Eastside can now see a Virginia Mason electrophysiology specialist in Kirkland as well.
