 Botox    Botox

Botox® Cosmetic Injections

What is Botox?
Botox® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time.

How does it work?
Botox® Cosmetic works by relaxing the muscles between your brows, and helps to reduce the frown lines that develop over the years. With less movement of these muscles, the skin surface gradually smoothes out, and frown lines begin to fade.

What areas can be treated with Botox?
Botox® Cosmetic can also be used for the treatment of crow's feet and some upper lip lines.  The beauty of Botox® Cosmetic is that there is little or no recovery time, and the entire procedure is performed quickly and with minimal discomfort. With just a few minutes of your time and a few tiny injections, you'll enjoy a noticeable improvement in the lines of your brow in a matter of a few days and results last up to four to six months.

Restylane        Perlane

Restylane and Perlane Injections

Did you know that Restylane is the world's most used, most studied cosmetic dermal filler? It has been used in over 70 countries and in more than 1.4 million treatments in the United States. Virginia Mason's Dermatology Clinic has been one of the top 5 percent injectors in the nation since 2005.

What is Restylane and Perlane?
The Restylane family of products includes both Restylane and Perlane. Restylane and Perlane are made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body that replace lost volume and restores youthful contours to the skin to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles.

How does it work?
The hyaluronic acid molecules in Restylane and Perlane and their unique structure allows them to bind many times their own weight in water. As time passes and the hyaluronic acid begins to degrade, each molecule binds to more water which helps maintain its volume for about six to nine months.

What areas can be treated with Restylane and Perlane?
Both Restylane and Perlane are cosmetic dermal fillers that replace lost volume and restore youthful contours to the skin. They smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles, like your "smile lines" - the lines from your nose to the corner of your mouth (nosalabial folds). They can also add fullness to your lips. The effects of Restylane and Perlane are practically instantaneous, with results lasting for up to six to nine months.

Before After

Fraxel Re:store Treatments
Clinical studies suggest that on average, an effective treatment regimen is three to five sessions spaced about two to four weeks apart. Depending on your condition and schedule, you and the physician may choose to space treatment sessions further apart. Results are immediate and progressive, with optimal improvement usually visible in two to three months. This time frame and treatment structure allows for complete healing and the production of new collagen and elastin to replace damaged tissue. Call (206) 223-6781 to schedule a consultation.

Tattoo Removal
Tattoos no longer have to be forever. We're pleased to provide you treatment with the highly effective MedLite™ laser. Unlike tattoo removal solutions of the past, which often leave behind scars, the MedLite™ laser is safe and significantly decreases risk of scarring. Tattoo removal treatment results in minimal scabbing or crusting.

What types of tattoos can be removed?

The MedLite laser can remove professional, amateur (homemade), traumatic and surgical tattoos.

How many treatments will it take to remove a tattoo?

On the average, professional tattoos require six to eight treatments, while amateur tattoos require four to five treatments, all spaced approximately four to six weeks apart. The number of treatments depends on the amount and type of ink used, and the depth of the ink in the skin.

Does the laser remove colored tattoos?

Dark (blue, black) and red inks will resolve the best. Oranges and purples usually fade  as well. Green and yellow inks are the most difficult to remove, and additional  treatments are needed to produce significant fading.

Will the tattoo completely disappear?
Yes, in most cases. More than 95 percent fading of the tattoo may be accomplished.  However, it is important to know that there are many types of tattoo inks used, none of which are regulated by the FDA. Not knowing which tattoo ink was used, or how deeply it was applied, makes it impossible for the physician to predict the degree of removal on any given tattoo.

All tattoo removal treatments are performed by board-certified dermatologists. Call (206) 223-6781 to schedule a consultation.

Vascular lesion and brown spots/pigmented lesions removal
Broken facial capillaries caused by sun exposure, hormonal conditions, rosacea, and other skin conditions can be safely and effectively removed with our current laser technology. Brown spots, age spots, freckles, and various birthmarks are just a few of the commonly known marks generally referred to as pigmented lesions.

Does it hurt?

No anesthetics are required, but they may be used. The feeling most patients report is a warming or tingling sensation during treatment. The skin being treated is protected by Candela's dynamic cooling device (DCD), which delivers a cooling mist before the laser pulse is emitted. This cooling mist increases comfort during treatment, as well as protects the skin to minimize side effects, such as redness.

Is Pulse Dye Laser (PDL) treatment safe?

Yes. In fact, this treatment is so safe that it has been successfully used since the 1980s for the treatment of port wine stain birthmarks in infants and young children.

Are the results of Pulse Dye Laser treatment permanent?

Permanency of results depends on many factors, like the condition being treated, or lifestyle of the patient. For example, if a patient has sun spots removed, and continues to spend time in the sun without adequate skin protection, it is likely the sun spots will return. Talk with your provider about your goals and expectations for treatment.

How soon will I see results of my treatment?

Most patients notice beneficial results immediately, and oftentimes feel a firming or tightening of the treated area. The results of laser therapy vary depending on the condition that is being treated and the number of treatments required.

What are the side effects of treatment?

Some patients experience redness or mild swelling in the treated area immediately following treatment, this usually goes away in a few hours. Occasionally purpura, a laser bruise, may occur. Purpura is transient and usually disappears in three to five days.

All vascular lesion and brown spots/pigmented lesions removal treatments are performed by board-certified dermatologists. Call (206) 223-6781 to schedule a consultation.

Sclerotherapy

What is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is the treatment of spider veins. Spider veins are small purple, blue or red veins most commonly found on the legs of women, and some men. Although laser treatment is available, sclerotherapy is still the first line of treatment for spider veins of the legs. A consultation appointment is required prior to scheduling a treatment. During consultation, a review of your medical history will ascertain the cause and severity of your condition. Depending on the types of veins, a combination of different treatment options may be suggested.

How does sclerotherapy work?
A sterile salt solution, similar to body fluid, is eased into blood vessels of the legs with a tiny needle. The blood vessels seal, gradually fade and finally become invisible. Patients may achieve significant improvement after several sclerotherapy treatments.
